This black October represents and remarks the sad-full ethnic cleansing of Northern Muslims from their homelands in 1990. twenty two years gone since the expulsion of Northern Muslims, scars created in the life of northern Muslims still living in their heart. REALITIES BEHIND THE RECENT ANTI MUSLIM PROPAGANDA..! A message to fellow Sinhala Budhists in Sri Lanka!!

leave a comment »

By MASIHUDEEN INAMULLAH
The recent anti Muslim campaign in many part of the Island by protests over Mosques and Dharhas of historical importance has created a kind of fear psychosis and uncertainty among the Muslims of this Island nation. The Muslims firmly believe that the vast majority of Sinhala Budhists are well aware of the fact that the Muslims of Sri Lanka are  peace loving and patriotic citizens of this Country with a their  peaceful coexistence well rooted in the ancient history of this Island as recorded in Mahavansa and Chulavangsa as well as recorded recent history of Sri Lanka. Rizvi Muthi’s call for compromise on Dambula Mosque, Rewarding hooliganism and sell out of the community

leave a comment »

By Latheef Farook
All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama President M.I.M. Rizvi Mufthi’s speech in Riyadh on Friday 4 May 2012 on the attack on the Dambulla Mosque has shocked the island’s Muslim community. For a moment I asked myself whether he has been dispatched by the mob leader Innamaluwa Sumangala Thera for canvassing in favour of demolishing the mosque. In his speech, published in the Jeddah based “arabnews” and reproduced in Sri Lankan dailies-Daily Mirror and Ceylon Today- on 7 May 2012, Rizvi Mufthi has called for resolving the Dambulla issue, imposed on the Muslim community by violence, amicably through tolerance and COMPROMISE. Beyond Dambulla mosque Attack- Part 1

leave a comment »

By Dr RIFAI (Naleemi)
In this series of articles I will Insha Allah try to gauge the communal relationship between Muslim and Non-Muslim communities in Srilanka in recent times. The primary objective of this article is not to make division between communities rather to bridge the gap in deteriorating communal relationship between different communities. A multicultural nation like Srilanka should maintain a strong sense of social interactions between communities in the greater interest of country and each community. Read the rest of this entry »

Wake up call from Dambulla to Sinhalese and Muslims alike

leave a comment »

by -Latheef Farook
To mainstream Sinhalese; Save the Sinhalese and the country from chauvinists.
To Muslim politicians and theologians; Don’t sell the community. You are under watch.

Muslim community’s overall response to vandalism at the Dambulla mosque by a mob led by Ven Inamaluwa Sumangala Thero on Friday 20 April 2012 has been “calm and dignified”. In one voice their message to the mainstream peace loving Sinhalese was “restore communal harmony”. Read the rest of this entry »

From where does holiness come to holy lands?

with one comment

by Usthad Rasheed Hajjul Akbar Amir,
Sri lanka Jama’athe Islami
Holy lands are indeed sacred and they exist on this earth as sites that are respected and that should be respected, not only by the people who believe in the particular faith but by every one in the civilized world. As people who live by Islamic faith, we have sensitivity over this delicate subject because Islam too has its own proclaimed sacred places. These places belong to every Muslim in world and it is their refutable obligation safeguarding and cherishing those places. The countries that have those sacred places within their geographical areas cannot proscribe Muslims coming to their countries for just about any reason. Read the rest of this entry »

Why raise this explosive issue now?

By Latheef Farook
Prime Minister D.M. Dayaratne’s order to demolish a 65 year old mosque in Dambulla and instead build a mosque in another place strikes at the very root of religious freedom .It also shocked and hurt the island’s Muslim community. Responding to the order and expressing the community’s mood Muslim Congress Secretary and parliamentarian Hassen Ali said the “community will not accept a mosque in another place even if it was built of gold”. ARE THE LTTE TERRORISTS FREE AT LARGE AND FREE AT LAST IN GENEVA?

By S.M.M.Bazeer
“Fighting terrorism is like being a goalkeeper. You can make a hundred brilliant saves but the only shot that people remember is the one that gets past you.” PAUL WILKINSON, London Daily Telegraph, Sep. 1, 1992

It is ironic that the rumps of the LTTE, a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization by the European Union and the USA, have staged a protest against Sri Lanka on 5th March 2012 at the precincts of the UN Office in Geneva. The tiger protesters called for an international intervention by passing the USA initiated resolution against Sri Lanka Read the rest of this entry »

Govt-TNA talks: Where are the Muslim politicians?

with one comment

By Latheef Farook
Where are the Muslim parliamentarians and what about the burning issues facing the Muslim community? This is the question raised in many Muslim circles following reports of talks between the government and the Tamil National Alliance aimed at solving the problems of Tamils. However, Muslim politicians, it appears, have not even woken up from their long slumber, leave alone highlighting the grievances of Muslims. One after the other, individually and collectively, Muslim politicians struck deals and joined the government stating that there was “no point wasting time with a weak opposition, Read the rest of this entry »

Free University Education to be stopped

leave a comment »

By M.Omar
With the economy dwindling and Sri Lanka trying to move away from being a third world country, Sri Lanka needs to revamp its educational policy and progress from being a “Welfare State’. One of the key changes that need to take place is to change the free university educational policy. This might come as a shock to some but stopping this would only be beneficial to all

Sri Lankan universities today generate low caliber graduates, who not only get a free education on tax payer’s money but in return have nothing to offer those who paid for their education. Read the rest of this entry »

Israel is destroying America, period

leave a comment »

By Khalid Amayreh in occupied Jerusalem
There is no doubt that one of the main reasons for America’s phenomenal economic and financial problems, which affect America’s overall global standing, has to do with the so-called Israeli factor. I know it is politically incorrect to say so, especially in an electioneering atmosphere.None the less, knowing and telling the truth shall set us all free.

President Obama admitted recently that the US is facing the severest economic crisis ever since the great depression. However, like most of his predecessors and nearly all Read the rest of this entry »

Obama’s UN speech is unjust, immoral and unprincipled

leave a comment »

By Khalid Amayreh
President Obama’s speech at the United Nation’s General Assembly was probably appropriate for an opportunistic politician who sacrifices honesty, morality, and basic ethics for the sake of making some   momentary profit here or there. But it was by all means inappropriate, to say the least, for a statesman, let alone the President of the strongest nation on earth.

Obama’s excessive praise of Israel caricatured an insecure president that fears telling the truth, a leader that shakes at the very thought of uttering the “wrong words” even when these wrong words happen to represent the heart, soul and essence of the truth. Read the rest of this entry »

Obama: America’s ‘first Jewish president’?

leave a comment »

Obama is the “the first Jewish President”. That’s the title of New York magazine’s lead article, written by John Heilemann and quoting a major Obama fundraiser. Listening to Obama speak at the United Nations on Wednesday many would nod in agreement, not less in Palestine and the Arab world.

The US President has embraced the rejectionist Israeli position on the question of international recognition of an independent Palestinian state. But that’s not a Jewish position. It’s a radical Zionist position. Many Jews, including US and Israeli Jews, do not embrace such extremist views. more..

British Education and Career Suicide

with 2 comments

Omar Mohammed
The notion of adding a qualification such as an ACMA, BA, MBA, PHD after ones name and adding an Al HAJ before the name has been the latest craze amongst the Muslims living in Sri Lanka. Education is sought after not for knowledge but merely for economic gains, prestige and status. This is absolutely against the Islamic view.

The British qualification has gained much prominence in our society but the Ummah fails to realize the underling agenda behind the British educational system . Read the rest of this entry »

Why this sinister “hate-Muslim” campaign now?

with one comment

By Latheef Farook
There is a growing feeling and fear among Sri Lanka’s Muslims that a sinister campaign has been underway inciting the Sinhalese against them. The campaign portrays Sri Lanka’s Muslims as a threat to Buddhism, the Sinhala people, their culture and the country as a whole.

While 18 websites – eight in Sinhala and ten in English — have been identified as part of this campaign, the Sinhala print media also carry articles on topics such as the 1915 riots and cattle slaughter, rousing communal disharmony at a time when every effort should be made to bring communities together. Puttalam unrest creates new challenges for All Ceylon Jamiyathul Ullama (ACJU)

with 4 comments

Omar Mohammed
Lankamuslim.com: The murder of the Puttalam police officer W.Navaratne Bandara by some unruly thugs was a much awaited opportunity for some racist individuals, contemptible media and petty politicians who used this opportunity and fanned the fires of racism.

The mainstream media showed off their un-professionalism by falsifying the actual incident and deliberately omitting key incidents. They misled the public to believe the actual culprits were the Muslim community not only in Puttalam but also in other areas such as Valachanai Irakkamam, Sammanthurai Pottuvil, Kinniya, Muthur and Kattankudy , Kalmunai. Muslims at Crossroads

leave a comment »

Omar Mohammed
Lankamuslim.com:The Muslim community in Sri Lanka has reached cross roads. The road they choose will define their fate. Will they lead the business community of Sri Lanka or will they fade off to be history.

We cannot blame others for our failures and for our declining knowledge of today’s business world or for the government for closing down the loop holes in the system. The Muslims have always stuck to the traditional business style, not adapting to the changes in the way business is done. Read the rest of this entry »

Omar Mohammed
Lankamuslim.com:The United States department of state on Thursday the 18th released information that it has received credible intelligence that the LTTE is re grouping and has stepped up its fund collection operations in Europe, America and Australia. In the mean time the Sri Lankan government has also stepped up it activities to combat money laundering and terrorist funding globally.

With the military defeat and thirty years of set back of the Tamil community it is very unlikely that the LTTE sympathizers will follow the same strategy the late LTTE leader followed.  Read the rest of this entry »

Develop the country with us not without us

Omar Mohammed
Lankamuslim.com: For three decades we fought a war that drained our economy, destroyed our lives and saw the educated and talented leave this beautiful Island. The country nearly lost half of its size, which to some was a freedom struggle and to others a terrorist takeover. All communities suffered but did we learn our lesson? This war was started by these racist politicians, who had no integrity, self respect or discipline.

The war came to an end with a heavy price. All communities were united again. Things were getting back to normal with everyone pitching in to erase the bad memories of the war. But now we are experiencing a new kind of takeover. Read the rest of this entry »

Grease Yakka – Gossip or Facts

with one comment

Omar Mohammed
lankamuslim.com: With the mythical character coming into existence once again during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, all Sri Lankans’ are anxious. Like most others I myself turned a blind eye until it happened in our own remote fishing village.

I then engaged my self to the village gossip which my fellow villagers were eager to share. Some believe that this act is done by his Excellency the president whom they believe is suffering from cancer and therefore 3,000 women need to be sacrificed.

This piece of information seems illogical as his Excellency the president so far has proved to be one of the most intelligent rulers armed with a group of educated advisors and is less likely to follow this route as a cure for cancer. Read the rest of this entry »

Part 1: ‘ We have to keep them out of the public arena because they are too stupid and if they get involved they will just make trouble. Their job is to be “spectators,” not “participants.”- Noam Chomsky

What Makes Mainstream Media Mainstream- Z Magazine, October, 1997

Channel Four’s footage on Sri Lanka broadcast on the 14th June 2011 , created a sanctimonious ripple effect which still has not precipitated from the media. An inward reaction to the Channel Four broadcast in the UK enabled some disgruntled viewers to lodge their complaints with The Broadcasting Complaint Authority’s ( Ofcom ) and its weekly Report covering the period from 14th June 2011 to 20th June 2011 indicates that there were 105 complaints from those who found the Channel four Documentary entitled “Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields” loathsome and not in compliance with the Broadcasting Code in the UK.
