Special leave for Muslim employees

The Government today called on the private sector employers to provide special leave for Muslim employees so that they could pursue their religious observances during the oncoming Ramazan period that will begin on August 1.

The Labour Ministry has requested that leave be granted during each day between 3.30 a.m. to 06.00 a.m., 3.15 p.m. to 4.15 p.m., 6.00 p. m. to 7, 00 p.m. and between 7.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.

The authorities have also called for payment of festival advances 14 days prior to the expiry of the Ramazan period to the eligible Muslim employees.
