Malaysia seeks investment opportunities in SL

ImageSri Lanka Malaysia Business Council Patron and Malaysian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka His Excellency Rosli Ismail said that a lot of investors are enthusiastic to come in to Sri Lanka and up to now,many business delegations have visited Sri Lanka seeking investment opportunities.
Malaysia is one of the biggest foreign investors in Sri Lanka and telecommunications sector is highlighted as the major investment area.

He further added that Malaysia is looking forward to diversify its investment projects in Sri Lanka, specifically, tourism,infrastructure development including roads and telecommunication,construction and housing.

Steps have already been taken to promote IT, Halal products and Islamic finance in Sri Lanka. It is crucial to enhance the trade relationship between the two countries he added further.

Exports from Sri Lanka to Malaysia has been increased from Rs. 4,973 million in 2008 to Rs. 5,533 million in 2009,  recording an increase of 11.26 percent..

Rubber and rubber products, residues and waste from the food industry,precious and semi-precious stones, essential oil, coffee, tea and spices are the main export items from Sri Lanka to Malaysia.
